Introducing the 2023 Homecoming Queen Candidates

It is that time of year again to vote for Mentor High School’s Homecoming King and Queen! From the Homecoming assembly to Spirit Week and finally the Homecoming dance, September is an exciting month all around. Choosing your Homecoming Royalty is a difficult decision when the court is full of great choices. Luckily, Cardinal Nation is here to help with that!

Below are profiles of each Homecoming Queen candidate and some questions we asked them to help make your decision easier. Seniors, make sure to cast your vote on Infinite Campus under the survey tab.

Hope Burke

Hope’s favorite activity is soccer. She is planning on going to college and majoring in aviation. She would like to become a commercial airline pilot. Her advice is “To try new things and look for the light in a bad situation.”

Angela DeMaria

Angela’s favorite activity is Sparkle Cheerleading.  She is planning to attend paramedic school. She would like to work for a fire department as a full-time paramedic.  Angela’s advice to the underclassmen is “Be true to yourself and get involved as soon as possible. You won’t regret it!”

Gabby Garcar

Gabby’s favorite activity is CTE. She plans to attend cosmetology school. She hopes to one day own a salon. Gabby’s advice to the underclassmen is “Take things one day at a time.”

Kennayia Henderson

Nayia’s favorite activities are Girls Rugby and Lacrosse. She is planning on attending college and majoring in Business with a minor in Dance. She would like to be a Neonatologist Nurse Practitioner. Her advice to the underclassmen is “Try new things could be the best choice you’ll ever make.

Addison Lyles

Addison’s favorite activities while at Mentor High have been participating in Cross Country, Gymnastics, and Track & Field for the last four years.  She will continue her pole vaulting career while pursuing an early childhood education degree in college. Addison’s advice to the underclassmen is “Never underestimate the power of hard work and dedication and you’ll go far in life.

Madalaine Menchaca

Madalaine’s favorite activity is wrestling. She plans to major in Psychology in college, and possibly Spanish.  Her advice to the underclassmen is “Don’t compare yourselves to others because everyone’s journey is different.

Karissa Mottice

Karissa’s favorite activity is cheering on the Varsity Football and Basketball Cheer Squads. She plans to major in Elementary Education in college with hopes of becoming a Kindergarten teacher.  Karissa’s advice to the underclassmen is “High school goes by fast, don’t take time for granted. Surround yourself with people who truly care and do things for you.”

Olyvia Ott

Olyvia’s favorite activity is playing four years of Soccer during her time at Mentor High. She plans to attend college and major in Business. Her advice to the underclassmen is “Don’t focus on the quantity of friends, focus on the quality.“

Sarah Shea

Sarah’s favorite activity at Mentor High School is Swim Team. She plans to attend college majoring in Political Science with hopes of becoming a defense attorney. Her advice for the underclassmen is “look forward to the future but enjoy every second of the present.” 

Heather Walker

Heather’s favorite activity is Bowling. She plans on attending a four-year college and pursuing a career in Dermatology. Her advice to the underclassmen is “Trust yourself to accomplish the goals that may seem impossible.”
