Christmas in Cleveland

With the holiday season coming up, there is so much to celebrate. The lights, cookies, Santa, and so much more! So many fun things happen in Ohio during this time of year, especially in Cleveland. From December 13-23rd The Cleveland Orchestra puts on their annual holiday concerts.

These are performances held at Severance Hall in downtown Cleveland. A beautiful array of holiday music will be conducted by Brett Mitchell with guest vocalist Capathia Jenkins. This concert will feature several musical ensembles including The Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, The Cleveland Orchestra Children’s Chorus, The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus Chamber Ensemble, the Wooster Chorus of The College of Wooster, Cleveland State University Chorale, and of course, The Cleveland Orchestra.

These groups will perform several holiday classics like O´ Come All Ye Faithful, Hallelujah Chorus, and so much more.  Tickets are on sale now starting at $49.00. For more updates make sure to check out https://www.clevelandorchestra.com/

Our very own choral director Adam Landry will be performing in several of the shows this holiday season. He is performing with the COC (Cleveland Orchestra Chorus).

“Participating in the Cleveland Orchestra Holiday Festival as a member of the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus has been an honor over the past seven years,” Mr. Landry says. “The Cleveland Orchestra is one of America’s finest ensembles and it is a thrill to sing holiday favorites each year to a sold-out and enthusiastic Severance Music Center audience. I highly recommend these concerts as an introduction to attending a concert at Severance Music Center for the whole family!”

Another member participating is Kathrine Bohlen. Kathrine is in 9th grade and goes to the Mastery School of Hawken. She is apart of the COYCCE (The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus Chamber Ensemble). Kathrine performed with the COCC (Cleveland Orchstra Childrens Chours) for 1 year, and this is her first year with the COYC (Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus).

I love being in Chamber,” Kathrine says. “I think it’s so fun that we get to sing at the holiday concerts. I’m a big Christmas music person so my one draw for Chamber was to be able to sing Christmas music in September. I love it a lot and I’m excited to be treated the same way the adult chorus is treated.”

This holiday season is going to be filled with so much festive cheer. Such an exciting time of year is sure to be filled with even more joy during the run of these holiday shows.
