Name: Mrs. Polin
Role: AP/Honors Physics Teacher
Cardinal Nation: How long have you been in education? And where?
Mrs. Polin: I have been in education 26 years, my first year I taught at St Jerome in Cleveland, and I have been teaching in Mentor since 1998.
Cardinal Nation: Why did you become a physics teacher?
Mrs. Polin: When I was in college I was a Physics major, and I found teaching to be what I was supposed to do rather than engineering or another physics-based career. I enjoy working with people and helping them to see how science works and how it relates to their lives.
Cardinal Nation: What can you tell us about your family?
Mrs. Polin: I have a husband and three children. My youngest is graduating high school this year, my oldest is living in London, he works on driverless car technology. My daughter is at Ohio State majoring in engineering.
Cardinal Nation: What are some of your hobbies?
Mrs. Polin: I spend a lot of time with my family, I am the assistant advisor to Science )lympiad, and I am currently binge-watching “Grey’s Anatomy.”
Cardinal Nation: What do you like about Honors Physics specifically?
Mrs. Polin: Honors Physics is my favorite course, I like how the math is more challenging, but we’re still able to have a lot of fun.
Cardinal Nation: What do you like about AP Physics specifically?
Mrs. Polin: AP is very fast paced, and it really pushes the students which I think they enjoy. It goes deep enough that the physics really makes sense. Also, I think it prepares students for stem majors in college; I am sending them out into the world ready to go.
Cardinal Nation: What’s the best advice you’ve been given or that you can share?
Mrs. Polin: Find what you love to do, because that’s how you will win at life (hopefully it’s physics).
