Get ready to celebrate Easter!
Easter 2025 is coming up on April 20th, and while it’s celebrated worldwide, several Mentor High School teachers decided to add a special twist to the Easter spirit this year.
Instead of chocolate bunnies, eight awesome science teachers from the physical science department collaborated to create a Principal Photo Scavenger Hunt. Miniature pictures of Mr. Jason Crowe, the principal of Mentor Public Schools, with bunny ears, were hidden around the school. Students were told to search around the hallways for fun and collect one photo.

Cardinal Nation asked Mrs. Gorka, who set up the Master Board (a large red poster with grids), printed the pictures, and led the overall planning of the fun activity.
Cardinal Nation: How did you come up with this idea?
Mrs. Gorka: I was watching a reel on Facebook and saw something about a scavenger hunt and it was pictures of a principal. I thought it would be fun to do the same thing at our school.
Cardinal Nation: What was the trickiest part of the setup process?
Mrs. Gorka: The trickiest part was getting the placement of the words on the back of the pictures just right so it printed perfectly.
Cardinal Nation: Do you plan to make this a yearly tradition?
Mrs. Gorka: I would love to make it a yearly tradition. Maybe next year can be a different principal or a combination of all the principals! We try to keep the fun in the upper B wing all year long with different activities each month.
This new event was a big success on the first day! A total of 100 pictures were hidden in secret spots. Find a picture, bring it to the board outside Room B205, and receive candy as a reward.

The first day, April 3rd, was especially exciting and productive. 51 pictures of Mr. Crowe found and stuck to the Master Board by midday. Mrs. Luciano, who helped set up the wall, was surprised by the students’ enthusiasm. “Mrs. Gorka and I were surprised and impressed with so many of the pictures returned to the poster the first day. We were excited that students and teachers participated!” she said. On the second day, pictures were turned in at a slightly slower pace, as the initial rush of excitement seemed to have waned.
Freshman Makayla Howard was one of the many who joined the hunt. “I thought it was quite fun and gave me something to look for while. I walked around the school for like 12 times until I found one underneath the B hallway stairs.”
It looks like this year’s Easter Scavenger was quite the success in Mentor High School, and left students to look forward to next year’s event!
