Art Club is Looking for More Members - This is Why You Should Join

Do you aspire to be a painter, photographer, or graphic designer? Maybe you’re just looking for something new. Regardless, you should consider joining the Art Club. In the past students ranging from beginners to experts have all improved through Mentor’s Art Club.

“The purpose of Art Club is to provide students who have an interest in art, whether a student in an art class or not, the opportunity to express themselves with creativity.” says Mentor’s wonderful art teacher Mrs. Toot, the Art Club advisor. “It gives students the opportunity to work individually and in groups. It is a place for students not enrolled in an art class AND practicing artists to hone in on their skills, develop their techniques and portfolios, collaborate with other artists like themselves, create bonds with the community through the arts, and learn how to work together through group projects that will beautify the school and community.”

In Art Club, students have the option to choose what activities they’ll participate in, which makes it one of the easiest clubs to be a part of because it can work around your schedule. In addition, it is more than just learning about art; you’re sure to enjoy laughs, make new friendships, and learn more about yourself.

You might be wondering what new projects are planned for Art Club. Here is a look into what students have done and what they’re looking forward to.

Tie Dye Shirts

Students are asked to bring in a T-shirt and are able to make tie-dye. When you arrive, you can choose from a variety of colors and let your creativity soar. In this project and all others, you are encouraged to truly be yourself and create something that reflects you.

Painting Like Bob Ross

In this project you can paint happy little trees and laugh with friends at happy accidents. When you show up, you’ll receive a small canvas and paint. You can then follow along with Bob’s instructions to paint the beautiful scenery of your choice.

Pumpkin Painting

What’s a more perfect fall activity than painting pumpkins? Find your favorite shades – autumn yellow, green, and red – and paint what fall means to you. You can paint anything from a windy fall trail to a spooky Jack-o-Lantern. Whatever it is that inspires you, this is your opportunity to celebrate the new season with it.

This is only a very small portion of the activities in Art Club. There is so much more you can look forward to! In previous years, students have helped by making backdrops for the Glow in the Snow Dance, making cards for Meals on Wheels, and putting up the Senior Art Show in the spring.

However, Art Club is also a place for you to make your own art. If you’ve been working on a project for months but just can’t seem to get the time to finish it, then come to Art Club. Or, maybe you just want a creative space to talk with other aspiring artists; if so, Art Club is the perfect extracurricular for you.
