Homecoming is just around the corner – and that prompts the crowning of Homecoming King and Queen. Voting for this year’s 2023 Homecoming royalty is currently open to seniors and closes on September 27th, just in time for our Homecoming Assembly and football game on the 29th and Homecoming Dance on the 30th.
In order to aid in this year’s Homecoming voting process, Cardinal Nation presents profiles for this year’s Homecoming King candidates. Seniors can cast their votes in Infinite Campus under the survey tab or use the QR code posted around the school.
Sam Cantu
Sam’s favorite activity is being part of Mentor Theatre. He plans to major in Psychology at Cleveland State. Sam’s advice to underclassmen is “Never be afraid to do the things that make you happy.”
Ryan Cybulski
Ryan’s favorite activity is playing Baseball. He is planning to major in Education at Florida Atlantic University. He would like to be a teacher. His advice to underclassmen is “This time flies by, don’t take it for granted.”
Scott Fiske
Scott’s favorite activity is being on the Golf team during his time at Mentor High. He plans to enter the workforce and become a firefighter after high school. He wants to be the best firefighter he can be and to live a happy life. Scott’s advice to the underclassmen is “Stay focused, get involved with whatever you’re interested in and work hard.”
Shawn Holloway
Shawn’s favorite activity at Mentor High School is Theatre. He plans to attend college and major in Music Education. His advice to the underclassmen is “To lock in 🤞🏽.”
Hayden Hurtack
Hayden’s favorite activity is Friday Night Football Games. He plans to attend college majoring in Business. He hopes to have a good career that pays well. Hayden’s message to the underclassmen is “Have fun every chance you get.”
Christian Lyon
Christian’s favorite activity is participating in Men’s Volleyball. He plans to major in Criminology and Psychology at Kent State University. He would like to pursue a career with the FBI and become a field agent and part of the SWAT Team. His advice to the underclassmen is “Don’t stress the little things, in the end everything will work out how it’s supposed to.”
A.J. Pecka
A.J.’s favorite activity is being a 6th Grade Camp Counselor. He plans to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in business operations and administration at Miami University. He would like to one day become an executive in a company or own his own business. A.J.’s advice for the underclassmen is “You are only in high school once so always work hard, study hard, and never forget to have fun.”
Rudy Reilly
Rudy’s favorite activity was playing on the Soccer Team for four years. He plans to attend college. He would like to have an aviation career. Rudy’s advice for the underclassmen is “ Enjoy your time! The four years go by fast!”
Khoury Ward
Khoury’s favorite activity during his four years at Mentor High has been being a part of Mentor Theatre. He plans to go to college and major in civil engineering.His advice to underclassmen is “Enjoy high school while you can.”
Luke Yamane
Luke’s favorite activity is being part of Mannheim Orchestra and serving as the concertmaster with the ensemble. He has curated many long-lasting friendships while being a part of the group. He plans to major in either Psychology or Music Therapy. He would like to be either a Psychologist or Music Therapist. Luke’s advice for the underclassmen is “to get involved in anything they perceive as interesting and to become the best they can at that specific interest.”
