Usually, September ends the baseball season and welcomes the football season. However, this year the Northeast Ohio baseball fans will have an October to remember.
The Guardians have now secured the third seed in the American League and have won the AL Central division for the second year in a row. Additionally, the Guardians have MLB record for the largest comeback of 15.5 games behind to win the AL Central.
The Guardians fought hard to win two of three games against the Detroit Tigers. On Tuesday the 23rd the Guardians won 5-2. With Daniel Schneemann batting in two of the five runs. Cleveland starter Gavin Williams pitched for six innings and had 12 strikeouts. On Wednesday the 24th Cleveland won 5-1. José Ramírez and George Valera both batted in two runs, respectively. While starting pitcher Tanner Bibee pitched for six innings and five strikeouts. For the final game the Tigers won 4-2 to end the series.

Most recently, the Guardians won their last two games against the Texas Rangers in a very Cleveland manner. To clinch the post-season on September 27th Guardians had bases loaded after two singles by Petey Halpin and Kyle Manzardo and the Ranger’s pitcher intentionally walked Gabriel Arias, leaving bases loaded. C.J. Kayfus was then hit by a pitch to clinch the post-season and win the game.
On the 28th, during the 9th inning we were down 8-6. Then Bryan Rocchio, hit a three run home run, clinching the division after the Tiger’s lost against the Boston red Sox.

Cleveland’s pitching staff has also been nearly unhittable, despite the challenges earlier in the season. Emmanuel Clase and Luis L. Ortiz was banned from pitching in the 2025 season due to severe gambling accusations. Fear not, our new closer, Cade Smith has a win record of 13-6 and has had an ERA of 2.93. Tanner Bibee recently threw a nine-inning shutout, meaning no runs were scored. This was the first in the teams history since 2019. Gavin Williams has also had an amazing season along with Slade Cecconi and Logan Allen
Jonathan Rodriguez has a .600 BA in the last 15 games. Petey Halpin a .500. Austin Hedges, .429.
The Guardians now have their sights on winning the Al wild-card. We set to take on the Detroit Tigers on the 30th and 1st of October and the 2nd if needed. Gavin Williams is set to start on the 30th, and for the rest of the games, it’s still undecided. Tarik Skubal is set to be the starting pitcher on the 30th for the Tigers. All three games will take place Progressive Field. If the Guardians won the wild card, will advanced to the ALDS, then ALCS, then, hopefully, the World Series!
