Another Homecoming season is upon us! One of the most exciting parts of the season is nominating your school’s homecoming king and queen. Like always, there are many great candidates this year! Cardinal Nation is here to provide you with a one-stop overview of everyone on the King’s court this year to help you make your decision. We asked the following questions to each of the candidates:

Chase Coleman
Being on the football team was Chase’s favorite activity during his time at MHS. After high school, he will be attending college and continuing to play football at the next level. His advice for underclassmen is to “Enjoy everything no matter how boring or mundane it seems at the time, it all goes by so fast and you only get to experience it once.”
Cardinal Nation: What activities are you involved in at MHS?
Chase: I am involved with the football team, and I’ve been playing on it the entirety of my high school career. I am also a captain.
Cardinal Nation: What is one of your favorite memories of MHS?
Chase: Beating Ignatius for my senior year home opener.
Cardinal Nation: When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up, and how has it changed since then to now?
Chase: I wanted to be a police officer when I was younger. I now want to become a physical therapist.
Cardinal Nation: What is your favorite movie of all time and why?
Chase: “Wolf of Wall Street,” because I think the movie is hilarious.
Cardinal Nation: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Chase: I would love to be able to teleport because I hate driving long distances.
Cardinal Nation: What is your proudest accomplishment?
Chase: Becoming a captain on the football team.
Trevor Koppenhaver
Trevor’s favorite activity during his time at MHS was participating in the ski club. After high school, he plans to attend college and major in political science. His advice for underclassmen is “stay in school, don’t ever be lazy, and don’t ever complain about hard work, it pays off.”
Jojo LoDuca
Jojo’s favorite activity at MHS was being on the football team. After high school, he will be attending the Naval Academy to play football. He plans to major in Quantitative Economics. His advice for underclassmen is to “take advantage of every opportunity.”
Cardinal Nation: What activities are you involved in at MHS?
Jojo: I play football.
Cardinal Nation: What is one of your favorite memories of MHS?
Jojo: Beating Ignatius at John Carroll.
Cardinal Nation: When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up, and how has it changed since then to now?
Jojo: When I was younger, I wanted to be a doctor. Now I want to still help people, but through finance and economics.
Cardinal Nation: What is your favorite movie of all time and why?
Jojo: “Godfather 2″ because it has deep character development.
Cardinal Nation: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Jojo: Teleportation.
Cardinal Nation: What is your proudest accomplishment?
Jojo: Being a football captain.
Nicholas Magistrelli
Some of Nick’s favorite activities during his time at MHS include the marching band, swim team, and robotics team. After high school, he plans to attend college and obtain a bachelor’s and master’s degree. He wants to obtain a mechanical engineering degree, and his career goal is to own a major industrial company. His advice for the underclassmen is “If you really want something, do whatever it takes to achieve it!”
Cardinal Nation: What activities are you involved in at MHS?
Nick: I am involved in the swim team, marching band, and robotics team.
Cardinal Nation: What is one of your favorite memories of MHS?
Nick: My favorite memory is getting a one at state finals for the FCMB.
Cardinal Nation: When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up, and how has it changed since then to now?
Nick: When I was younger, I wanted to be an engineer, and now I am planning to get a degree in that area.
Cardinal Nation: What is your favorite movie of all time and why?
Nick: My favorite movie of all time is “Transformers” (2007), because I am a huge robot enthusiast.
Cardinal Nation: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Nick: My superpower would be super speed.
Cardinal Nation: What is your proudest accomplishment?
Nick: My proudest accomplishment is leading a section in the FCMB and being the team leader on the robotics team.
Danny Marschall
Rugby was Danny’s favorite activity during his time at MHS. After high school, he plans to pursue a career in the trades as an electrician or in construction management. His advice for underclassmen is “don’t be afraid to try new things!”
Cardinal Nation: What activities are you involved in at MHS?
Danny: I am involved with Rugby at Mentor High.
Cardinal Nation: What is one of your favorite memories of MHS?
Danny: One of my favorite memories of MHS is having 3 walking tacos during lunch.
Cardinal Nation: When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up, and how has it changed since then to now?
Danny: When I was younger, I always wanted to be a teacher so I could have summers off, but now I think I don’t want to keep going to school.
Cardinal Nation: What is your favorite movie of all time and why?
Danny: My Favorite movie of all time would be “Rango.”
Cardinal Nation: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Danny: If I could have any superpower, it would be the ability to teleport.
Cardinal Nation: What is your proudest accomplishment?
Danny: My proudest accomplishment would have to be when I won Rookie of the Year for rugby.
Eli Pacheco
Eli’s favorite activity during his time at MHS was the National Honor Society because of the great volunteering opportunities that allowed him to spend time with friends while helping the community. After high school, he wants to go to college and major in political science and economics, then obtain a master’s in public administration. He plans to work for the government as a finance director or city manager before eventually running for elected office! His advice for underclassmen is to “build strong relationships with teachers and other students; they will take you far in life.”
Benjamin Sherman
Ben’s favorite activity during his time at MHS was the marching band. After high school, he plans to attend college, where he is leaning towards a major in engineering or statistics. Ben’s advice for underclassmen is “In the words of Miles Davis, ‘Being comfortable never helped nobody”; Challenge yourself with new things, and don’t be scared to fail.”
Cardinal Nation: What activities are you involved in at MHS?
Ben: Marching band, Science Olympiad, Spring Musical, and NHS.
Cardinal Nation: What is one of your favorite memories of MHS?
Ben: Playing in the pit orchestra for the spring musical.
Cardinal Nation: When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up, and how has it changed since then to now?
Ben: When I was younger, I wanted to be able to play Mario Kart in real life, but now I’m more grounded (sadly) and wish to pursue a career in either statistics or engineering.
Cardinal Nation: What is your favorite movie of all time and why?
Ben: My favorite movie of all time is “Zoolander” because the comedy is unmatched, and the main character, Derek Zoolander, is amazing in every way.
Cardinal Nation: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Ben: If I could have any superpower, it would be superspeed like the Flash, so I can go everywhere I want to without the hassle of fees or traffic.
Cardinal Nation: What is your proudest accomplishment?
Ben: My proudest accomplishment is winning a certificate from the national piano playing auditions held by the American College of Musicians for my 6th year of playing piano, as I was particularly proud of both the rigor and variety of the 10 pieces I had to play.
