Now that school is back in order, it’s time for Homecoming! Are you waiting to see what’s in store? Don’t worry, you don’t have to anymore! This is going to be one of the most packed weekends of the year, so pay attention!
Spirit Week
Before the actual HOCO events, there will be a school spirit week. Yes, that’s right; from the 15th to the 19th, we will have different themes for everyone to wear! Of course, these are not mandatory, but we want as many people as we can to join in on the fun. So please do consider it! Now, here is the list.
Monday: Crocs and Crazy Socks Day
Tuesday: Twin Day
Wednesday: Favorite Team/College Day
Thursday: Western/Denim Day
Friday: Mentor Spirit Day
Show your most exciting and creative outfits with these Spirit Days! This is a fun, light-hearted way that we can come together and show our school spirit. We will celebrate throughout the whole week for all of our alumni, students, and staff.
Homecoming Parade
The Homecoming parade is going to start the weekend festivities off on a high note! At 5:30 p.m., on Friday, the 19th, it will start at the front of the school.

This is the side that faces Center Street. Then, it will exit the parking lot near the Fine Arts Center, turn right onto Center Street, turn right again onto Civic Center Boulevard, and lastly head down to the stadium.
At the parade, there will be signs, banners, music, cheering, school mascots, and plenty of candy and fun for the audience! There will also be student groups and staff from every school in the district participating in the parade, as well as community members from Cardinal Credit Union. The Fighting Cardinal Marching Band (FCMB) will lead the way for the parade, followed by the Homecoming Queen and King candidates. Congratulations to everyone who is nominated, and thank you to the FCMB for their performance. We will see you when the parade starts!

Homecoming Football Game
The Homecoming football game is happening with the parade too! The Varsity team of Mentor will be going up against Medina. This will be happening at the Jerome T. Osborne Stadium at 7 p.m. The tickets can be purchased on Tuesday onward. They are $8 for adults and $5 for students for general admission, and if you would like reserved seats, they are $12. These will be available on the Mentor Athletics website (linked here!), so don’t miss them. Make sure to cheer our players on as they face Medina head-on! Good luck, everyone!
Homecoming King and Queen
Before the game, the Homecoming Queen will be announced at approximately 6:40 p.m. during the pregame ceremony! The Homecoming King will be crowned at the school’s Homecoming assembly, which will be the same day (Friday). The Court will also be introduced! For Seniors: You may vote on the King and Queen! To do this, log in to your Infinite Campus account (the QR codes posted around the school can be used to pull it up!) and use the Survey tab. You can vote for one King and one Queen. This survey is open until September 17th, and is only for seniors. If you’re a senior, please vote for the King and Queen. We are looking for as many voters as possible, and it only takes a minute! We look forward to the results. Let’s see who wins!
Homecoming Assembly
As for the assembly itself, the Fall athletes of the school will also be recognized. In addition to that, we will also have some friendly competitions between the grade levels. What those will be, you will have to wait to find out! There will be plenty of fun activities occurring. The assembly will happen in the Gym during 1-2 on Friday. The event will be plenty of fun. You should come; it’s free of charge and you won’t regret it! The schedule for the day might be altered to make room for the assembly, so do look out for that.
Homecoming Dance
The HOCO dance will take place on Saturday, the 20th. This will be from 7 to 10 p.m.!

The doors will open at 6:45 p.m. for arrival. You can order tickets here! Alternatively, you can order them physically on the 16th or 18th before school or during lunch mods. Tickets are 20 dollars. If you are inviting someone who does not attend Mentor High School, they will need to complete a guest form before purchasing in person or receiving a code to purchase online. Thank you to the PTSA for sponsoring this event! The dance will have plenty of songs to love and memories to make. There will also be water and light snacks for everyone. This will be held at the Gym. The school rules still apply at the dance, so please follow them. The theme for this Homecoming dance is “We Love the 80s”! Remember to put on your best attire for the party. Even if you don’t have a date for the dance, you can and should still come.
That’s just about everything. We can’t wait to see you all at these events! Hopefully, this weekend will be as fun as possible for everyone. Also, hello again to all of the alumni returning for the season! Remember: Once a Card, Always a Card!
